Madness

The list of weekend chores:
  • Vacuuming
  • Mopping kitchen floor
  • Cleaning bathroom
  • Buying new screens for back windows
  • Grocery shopping
  • Weeding
  • Spreading mulch over weeded areas
Actual accomplishments… Saturday:
  • Early blogging
  • Saving the world by engaging in very mild activism (door knocking to get signatures on a petition for better funding of local public transportation)
  • Eating a bag of Fritos for lunch
  • Taking "Spanish kids" to the zoo
  • Buying take-out sushi dinner at Union Station (no raw fish--they're nice, but I don't trust them enough for that)
  • Eating take-out dinner while watching taped tv shows (Amazing Race, ER)
  • Forcing myself to pay attention and not go on-line while eating and watching tv
  • Watching more tv while writing blog, reading blogs and surfing the internet (which included reading about tv shows while not paying close attention to other tv shows)
  • Going to bed at 1am (why oh why can't I get to sleep at a reasonable hour?)
Sunday:
  • Getting up at 8am to make it to 9am softball game
  • Playing a forfeit game because only 7 of 9 required players showed
  • Drinking coffee
  • Eating brunch with friend (MB) after the game (she lives in the neighborhood)
  • Drinking more coffee
  • Walking a whole bunch around Georgetown
  • Buying a $100 bright orange linen blazer at Benetton (it was on sale, but will I ever wear it? I better.)
  • Coming home to rest and shower--blogging instead, but still not posting
  • Showering (even washed my hair)
  • Going to book group where three out of four of us had not finished the book (it was Vanity Fair and I have read it before. It is damn long.)
After book group will I:
  • Come home, write, watch tv and go to sleep early?
Or
  • Go to the 9pm swing dance at the cool U Street club (DC9) I tried last month (I didn't write about it because it was kind of a bust)?
Those are the only two options because there is no way in Hell I'm doing any of that housework or grocery shopping.

Grateful for: downtime--I never have it, but I sure appreciate it when I do!
