It's my party

If you weren't there, you might be wondering how the party went. It was a good party. Great turnout--at least 25 people. In my small place that is a quite a crowd. It was bustling and people enjoyed themselves. There wasn't too much food or too little. I got quite a few presents…lots of wine and a few miscellaneous other things. It's really sweet that people bring things. They ate almost all of the food (but there are plenty of leftovers), drank almost all of the beer, some of the wine and a decent amount of liquor.

MS was a no show. I still had a good time. I stopped waiting for him at some point. I didn't talk to everyone. I mostly focused on people who I rarely see, some of the out of town guests and CN (when are we going to the movies anyway?). KJ said MS would probably call. I actually don't think he will. If he were going to call, he would have called to say he couldn't make it. So, as usual, I'm done. I'm moving on. It was fun to meet him. I had a good time talking to him and flirting with him. It was a mild, harmless fantasy and now I'm ready for the next thing.

Speaking of the next thing, I've really got to figure out how to meet more people in person. I'm doing some of the right things, but it's not enough. I need to get out more. Online is fine, I guess, but it's a ton of work for very little pay off. Still it's much easier than going out to bars or wherever and making that kind of effort every week. Yet, I think that is the only thing to be done. That's the point--it's easier. So the people online are all kind of lazy. And many are not actually available. I've made this point before so I won't belabor it.

It's really good the have a nice party where all your friends come and everyone has a good time talking together, stays late, drinks, brings presents. It went better than expected. Easy to be grateful for that.

  1. I had a super good time. And, despite leaving a little later in the morning than I probably should have, I made it to Chapel Hill by 1:25PM - right on time for my "I said I'd be late" 1:30 lunch engagement. (Other people arrived at 1PM. And they *still* didn't save me a seat. Weenies.) Hope you're not getting too socked by snow. Nothing here!
    Cheers

  2. As always, a pleasure to have you. Glad you managed to do everything. You go. There is snow here, but it is not sticking, just swirling around in the air looking pretty. But, they closed all the schools JUST IN CASE.

  3. Found you on DD--Sounds like you were surrounded by good friends, good food, good drink... and if you didn't wake up with a hangover or a stranger in your bed, all the more reason to be grateful! I'm turning 36 in April and think I want to throw myself a party now! Happy birthday!

  4. Stephanie--Thanks for stopping by. If I had a hangover it was extremely mild and didn't stop me from doing nothing on Sunday :) You should certainly have a party--why not have fun!
